Democrat Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris Ducks from Vote to Save Independent Workers

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – – Cottie Petrie-Norris was in Sacramento voting on legislation on Monday, but when the bill to preserve independent jobs and repeal AB 5 came to the Assembly floor she did what she has done on many key votes during her short time in the legislature. She disappeared.

“With the pandemic devastating our economy, we need a strong leader in Sacramento to help get us back on the right track. We know Cottie is never going to vote against the Liberal Democratic leadership in Sacramento. Ducking and hiding from votes shows Cottie Petrie-Norris doesn’t have the backbone to vote for what her district needs when it matters most. To make matters worse she can’t even be honest and face her constituents. That’s why she was absent from this vote. We know she supports AB 5 because she voted for the original bill, she could at least own that,” said Diane Dixon. “Taxpayers are the ones paying Cottie to be their representative but she is conning them, she gets paid but she ducks the important votes. Voters have a clear choice this November between someone who is beholden to the majority rule party and the Sacramento insiders or someone who will have the courage to vote for their district’s needs.”

The election for the 74th District is sure to be one of the most competitive campaigns in the 2020 election cycle with the district being one of the few Republican majority districts currently represented by a Democrat.

The 74th Assembly District is home to the cities of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach,  Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach, and portions of Irvine.
