Orange County, California (May 30, 2019) – Mayor Diane Dixon (R-Newport Beach) today
announced that she has secured nearly half a million pieces of slate mail in her bid for the 74th
Assembly District seat. She is challenging freshman Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-
Laguna Beach) for the seat. Dixon also unveiled the first digital video ad of her campaign.
“Digital advertising and 500,000 pieces of slate mail are simply two of the many components for
my campaign to reach the voters of the 74th Assembly District,” Mayor Dixon said. “From digital
ads and slate mail to traditional mail, precinct walkers, and phone bankers, my campaign will
have the resources to leave no stone unturned in our effort to reach the voters of the 74th
Dixon’s slate mail reservations and payments include the well-respected Save Prop 13 from
Landslide Communications. In 2014, the underfunded but victorious Assembly campaign of
Mayor Matthew Harper relied heavily on Landslide Communications slates.
The campaign’s first digital video ad discusses Mayor Dixon’s long private sector career, her
proven record at City Hall, and her plans if elected to the Assembly.
“We will use every means necessary to ensure the voters hear my message advocating for
fiscal responsibility, stronger public safety, and the protection of our environmental assets,”
Mayor Dixon said.
Diane Dixon spent 40 years in the private sector as a business executive before being elected
to the Newport Beach City Council in 2014. She is serving her second term as Mayor, and has
served as Chair of the Water Quality and Tidelands Committee and as Chair and member of the
Finance Committee for four years. During her tenure at City Hall, she has actively engaged city
residents, holding 22 town hall meetings, working closely with local business owners and
residents to solve community problems, and initiating numerous neighborhood and community

decades. Mayor Dixon has been married for 44 years to career prosecutor Pat Dixon, with
whom she has a daughter, a former prosecutor, and three grandchildren.
The 74th Assembly District consists of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna
Woods, southern Huntington Beach, and most of Irvine.
